Chapter Ten: The Rising of Hell
Four hours had passed until Dean had made it to the Sonic. The long drive was really a pain as he was relieved to finally make it there, so Castiel would finally stop complaining on how hungry he is. He was starting to take Sam's word on how hard it's going to be to raise a baby, but he wanted to prove him wrong. As he was getting ready to go through a drive in, Castiel tuned to him.
"Dean…" He spoke up, placing a hand on his belly for a moment. He was starting to feel his unborn daughter move a little bit. "We're actually hungry for In-N-Out now."
Dean arched an eyebrow as he turned to Castiel. He stopped the impala for a moment. "What do you mean you're hungry for In-N-Out? I thought you wanted Sonic?" He questioned.
"Well… now I have a craving for In-N-Out. Sorry, Dean." Castiel looked down for a moment with slight guilt.
"Are you fucking serious, Cas?!" Dean raised his voice. "I drove four fucking hours out of town to get here because of your whacky craving, and now you expect me to drive halfway across the country?! Out of the question!"
"I can help you pay for it…"
"Going to McDonalds and Jack in the Box is fine with me, but I'm not driving halfway across the country." Dean lectured before he leaned back for a moment to massage his temples with frustration. "Jesus."
Castiel started to emotionally pout for a moment. "Okay… we'll go to McDonalds…" However, he wasn't quite satisfied, but he didn't want to push Dean anymore. He continued to give off a sad, yet adorable pout.
*~*~*
As time progressed, Dean finally arrived back to the hotel room where he and Castiel were staying for a while until they saved up for a place of their own. Furthermore, Dean was hoping he would have enough saved before the birth. It was quite an exhausting day that went by so fast. However, Dean had to get ready for work again tomorrow by being up bright and early, especially when he was going to reason with his boss to cover his and Castiel's shifts. Castiel was now down to his last McDonalds cheeseburger after having four of them already.
"You ate those things pretty quick, Cas." Dean chuckled as a slight smirk came across his face. He was quite amused as always by his angelic boyfriend. He then placed a hand on Castiel's belly. "She must be really happy now saying --Thank you, mommy, for feeding me."
"D-Dean!" Castiel started turning bright red in the cheeks from Dean's little joke, yet he found it quite adorable seeing him becoming more mature and responsible. It was a nice moment.
Dean chuckled as he leaned in a little bit to kiss Castiel on the temple before looking him into his eyes. "I'm actually looking forward for you to have this baby."
Castiel was unsure how to react to that. Dean was actually wanting to take responsibility for once and becoming a father? It was flattering. "Dean…" That was when they both leaned in and kissed. However, they weren't the only ones watching as Sam approached the impala.
"Sammy!" Dean stopped for a moment and was amazed to see his brother come up to the car. "Been a long time, anything new?"
"Oh… just doing usual business." Sam responded in a casual voice.
However, Castiel, was starting to grow suspicious of this because last thing Sam told him and Dean was that he and Bobby were going to continue hunting supernatural creatures. They were going to be back just in time for Castiel's birth, but this didn't seem to make sense since Sam was right here. The question was – where is Bobby?
"Dean… this isn't right…" Castiel explained as he moved back towards the door a little bit.
Dean turned back to Castiel a little to try and calm him down. "Cas, relax. We've always trusted Sam, and he can update us on Lucifer." He then opened up the door of the car and stepped out to talk with Sam.
"Dean, no!" Castiel cried out before he sighed and stepped out as well.
"Why don't you two get a room?!" Sam yelled as he took a step back for a moment, narrowing his eyes.
"Whoa, what crawled up your ass, Sam?" As Dean was about to approach Sam, Castiel pulled him back for a moment. Something was wrong with him, but what?
"Dean, stop!" Castiel tried to pull Dean back, but before he could do anything else, Dean pulled himself away from him.
"Cas, shut up!" Dean yelled as he stepped away from him. "What's the fuck's the matter with you?! This –is- Sam!"
"Both of you shut up!" Sam jumped in as he pulled out a shotgun, aiming it at Dean. He grit his teeth as his mind started to rage, especially with Lucifer corrupting him. "That's all you ever did, Dean! Ever since you had that ass of an angel in your life, you've been all over him. I'm tired of playing third-wheel and being your little side-kick."
"Whoa, Sam, let's put the gun down and talk about this."
"Shut the fuck up now!" Sam was about to pull the trigger as he still had the gun aimed at Dean. "I'm my own master, Dean, and I will –not- be pushed around anymore!"
"Sam!" Before Dean could act out, holy fire began to surround the entire area they were in as everything started to dim around them. This was all a very intense moment until—
"DEAN!" Castiel cried out until he was being grabbed by his throat by the soulless devil himself, Lucifer. He stared at Lucifer with fear coming into his eyes.
"CAS!" Dean turned back to Castiel for a moment until he heard a gunshot that nearly missed his head. He looked back at Sam. "Sam! Snap out of it! Cas is in trouble!"
"Sorry, Dean…"
Lucifer lifted Castiel up by his throat, forcing him to look dead into his eyes. "Long time no see, brother."
